Call for papers
The Shanghai International Library Forum (SILF)
is a biennial international event aimed at
promoting professional and academic exchange
among librarians and information
professionals all over the world. In 2002,
to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the
Shanghai Library successfully organized the
First Shanghai International Library Forum.
More than 100 representatives from twelve
countries attended the forum, 77 papers were
published in the proceedings and 53 library
and information professionals gave speeches
at the meeting. Knowledge management,
reference services, interlibrary cooperation
and digitization were the major themes of
the first forum.
The 2nd Shanghai International Library Forum
will be held on October 12-15, 2004, and the
theme of this forum is "City Development and
Library Services". SILF 2004 will bring
together librarians, researchers and
scholars to discuss the latest achievements,
innovations and the future related to the
theme.
In conjunction with the 2nd Shanghai
International Library Forum, the Shanghai
Library will host the DC (Dublin Core
Metadata Initiative)-2004 Conference (http://dc2004.library.sh.cn/chinese/zwgg.htm).
The sub themes are as follows:

The Digital Library & Digital City

The Library and City’s Knowledge
Infrastructure
V.
The Library and the World Expo
Those who are interested in the above themes
are welcome to attend the forum. Please
submit an abstract of your paper to the
Shanghai Library before May 12, 2004. The
deadline for submitting the complete paper
is June 30, 2004.
