Invitation to the 6th Shanghai International Library Forum
|
|
Dear Sir/Madam, |
|
The 6th Shanghai International Library Forum (SILF 2012), themed “Smart City and Library Service”, will be held on July 17~19 at the Shanghai Library. Colleagues and friends from libraries and information institutions from around the world will meet together to share the latest research findings, exchange ideas and illuminate emerging trends.
The biennial SILF, conducted in compliance with the quickened growth of information industry as well as the globalized development of libraries, has been attracting intensified media coverage and worldwide acclaim from the library circle. The event has the pleasure of gathering hundreds of veteran librarians, information scientists and other stakeholders every two years.
Mrs Ingrid Parent, the IFLA President, has confirmed to attend the forthcoming SILF 2012 as a keynoter. The Forum has also reached a partnership with the international journal of libraries and information services, the Libri, in which papers offered for presentations at the conference will be reviewed for publication on the journal.
The SILF 2012 will take place in conjunction with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Shanghai Library. Remembrance of the birth and growth of this prestigious institution, will present an epitome of development of the Chinese librarianship over the past 60 years.
As chair of the Organising Committee, I sincerely invite you to come to Shanghai, to join us at the SILF 2012. I’m convinced that your active participation and strong support would contribute to make the event a great success.
With best regards,
WU Jianzhong
Director, Shanghai Library
