The fourth Shanghai
International Library Forum (SILF) will be held on October
20~22, 2008 at the Shanghai Library. SILF was initiated
in 2002 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Shanghai Library
and is convened at a biennial basis ever since. The forum
provides a significant platform for information exchange among
international libraries, and hence attracts IFLA senior
officials, library directors at home and abroad, professionals
and experts from the information sector, researchers and people
from other fields for attendance. Five years passed and the
forum has grown into a professional gathering with far-reaching
impact and sparked worldwide concern within the library and
information sector.
The forthcoming forum coincides with the 50th anniversary of
the Institute of Scientific & Technical Information of Shanghai
(1958-2008), adding festive flavors to the event. The Organizer
is now extending warm welcome to domestic and overseas
colleagues alike to jointly benefit from our keynote speeches,
rewarding discussions and enlightening seminars, while
celebrating meanwhile the steady development of Shanghai’s
information service.
The topic of this forum
is “Intelligence, Innovation and Library Services”. To
facilitate in-depth discussions, subtopics are designed as
follows:
I.Library and Information Service in the Digital Age
II. Libraries 2.0 and Web2.0
